Kit is designed to help students in determining the relative effectiveness of sunscreens with different sun protection factor ratings. It assists student's to compare their own sunscreens against the standardized samples provided using a laboratory procedure. It also contains sunscreen samples for SPF comparisons and requires 5 additional commercial samples for testing. Kit with comprehensive instructor's manual illustrates different types of light waves that include ultraviolet light categories, why UV light is harmful to skin, how sunscreens work and the biology of skin and how it protects from UV radiation. It also explains molecular structures of common protective sunscreen ingredients, how Beer's Law relates to sunscreens and how SPF ratings are calculated. Kit is ideal for 24 students working in 6 groups of 4.
