The Laerdal Nursing Kelly Manikin is a full-body adult patient simulator designed for scenario-based in-hospital training, allowing health sciences students to develop and practice a broad range of clinical assessment and intervention skills on a single, durable platform. Nursing Kelly supports critical thinking development through realistic skills and scenario-based training targeting the core competencies of hospital care providers. The head features anatomical landmarks, a trachea and esophagus, and simulated lungs and stomach for practicing nasogastric and orogastric tube insertion, tracheal care, and suctioning procedures. IV cannulation, medication administration, and site care can be practiced at the antecubital area and dorsum of the hand, with access to the median, basilic, and cephalic veins. Intramuscular injection practice is supported at four sites (the deltoid, gluteal, ventrogluteal, and thigh) for medication dose calculation and administration training. The manikin also supports both male and female urinary catheterization via interchangeable genitalia. A flexible platform allows additional accessory modules to be added for use across multiple clinical settings, making this a scalable investment for health sciences programs.
