  • Students will lay out an aesthetically pleasing layout and design.
  • Students will learn the discipline of lettering.

Instructions

*Please Note the Cautions Below.

1

Using practice paper, experiment with lettering alphabets always holding the marker at a 45-degree angle, as described on the back of the Elegant Writer packaging or resource material. For the more advanced student a pen and ink calligraphy set may be used for an opaque lettering effect.

2

Use a ½ sheet, 10” x 13 ½”, of the Folia Transparent Paper

3

On a white sheet of paper of the same size, design a layout, considering that only one side of the cylinder is visible at a time, and experiment with color choices.

4

On another sheet draw guidelines

5

Place the Folia paper on top and use masking tape to secure the corners.

6

Carefully letter the quote.

7

Add border designs, overall patterns, or sketching.

8

Tape into a cylinder using double-sided tape.

9

Cut a tiny notch to accommodate the electric cord, if not using a battery powered candle.

10

The tiny light bulb unit will create a dimmer, more efficient light source. For added stability, mount in a small (2”) bottle cap, securing it with tape. CAUTION: Do not use real candles. Do not leave unattended. Do not allow bulb to touch the lantern surface.
