Description

Students investigate Accelerated Motion using an adjustable system with six foot tubular ramps, clamps, toy cars, and bearings. This simple apparatus allows students to use timed trials to measure gravitational acceleration and a car’s or ball’s coefficient of friction. Includes three experiments: Accelerated Motion on an Included Plane with Varied Length, Effect of Adjusting Angle of Incline, Calculating the Kinetic Friction Coefficient (High School) or Effect of Additional Friction (Middle School). Differentiated lessons, experiments, worksheets, and problem sets make the kit appropriate for any level Physics (including AP) or general science course. Advanced curriculum explores kinetic and static coefficients of friction as well as bodies on inclined planes. Allow 45 minutes lab time and additional time for analysis. Designed for working in groups of four to six, with materials included sufficient for up to 36 students. Not included, ring stands and a balance.
