Science First Mini Discharge Wand consists of a 4.1 inch diameter stainless steel sphere mounted on a 15.75 inch insulated plastic rod and comes with a banana plug and an alligator clip to ground to most Van de Graaf generators. The discharge wand proves a convenient way to discharge the collectors of Van de Graaff generators. This is particularly useful when demonstrating hair-raising. By discharging the collector, the student does not feel a shock when touching the generator. The wand can also be used to draw arcs from the Van de Graaff which can be seen from a distance for an effective demonstration in front of larges groups.
