Instructions

1

Select and read a sea life story that has vibrant CONTENT, rich details and vivid characters. Or make up a story that is based on a sea life character: an octopus, a barracuda, a tiny crustacean. Some stories can bring together a mixture of text and audio narration. Most importantly, it will be visually portrayed as soft sculpture wall hanging.

2

Select a theme or character that is embedded in the story. Observe the character as if you were a detective: if it's a fish, how does it swim, what does it look like, what are its colors, and what sea life elements surround it?

3

Select from a variety of materials and use them to convey how the theme and meaning of the story can be told through the materials.

4

Select the mini pillow and Prang® Markers. Draw/sketch the background and the outline of the sea creature. Use a light mist application of water to blend the background colors. Highlight areas with the Prang® Metallic Markers. Let fabric dry completely.

5

Glue six ends of the yarn pieces with brightly colored tips onto lower back section of the mini pillow. String beads and other found items. Tie knot at the end to prevent losing the beads.

6

Glue other decorative items to fabric, including felt shapes, gem stones, shells, bits of ribbon, and any other found items. Position eyes to give Sea Life Creature a "creature" look. Glue thick yarn piece to back for hanging.

7

Add poly filling to enhance creature look.

8

Curate Sea Life Creature with title (e.g., Gretchen The Sea Creature), then sign and date.

Note: Intended for decorative purposes only, washing not recommended.
