Description

In the Delta Science Collection Plant and Animal Populations, students read about different habitats where plant and animal populations live. They learn about what plants and animals need to survive and how adaptations help organisms live in their environments. Students find out about communities and how living and nonliving things interact in an ecosystem. They also learn about predators and prey and explore the concept of a food chain. In a People in Science reading, students are introduced to park naturalists. Finally, they discover how animals become endangered or extinct.

Delta Science Readers are 16-page nonfiction books for students with informative, engaging full-color photos and graphics that present key science concepts and vocabulary.

Using science material they promote reading in the specific content area. Readers present key science content and vocabulary found on most state tests and support and extend the experiences and content of hands-on activities. They also help students develop informational literacy skills while promoting scientific inquiry.

Each reader has three main sections:
