Description

In the Delta Science Collection Magnets, students read about magnets and magnetic fields. They learn how magnets are made, how magnets can create electricity, what magnets are used for, and how Earth is like a magnet. They also read about Michael Faraday, the famous nineteenth-century scientist who invented the electric motor and the electric generator, both of which use magnets. Finally, students learn about the applications of magnets in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and maglev trains.

Delta Science Readers are 16-page nonfiction books for students with informative, engaging full-color photos and graphics that present key science concepts and vocabulary.

Using science material they promote reading in the specific content area. Readers present key science content and vocabulary found on most state tests and support and extend the experiences and content of hands-on activities. They also help students develop informational literacy skills while promoting scientific inquiry.

Each reader has three main sections:
