In the Delta Science Collection Dinosaurs and Fossils, students discover what dinosaurs were, when they lived, what they were like, and how they may have become extinct. They read about fossils and find out how different kinds of fossils form and what scientists can learn from fossils. Students learn the two main classifications of dinosaurs and meet examples of each type in a “field guide.” They also read about paleontologists—scientists who study the history of life on Earth—and the work they do. Finally, students learn about Sue, the largest and most complete Tyrannosaurus rex skeleton ever found.

Delta Science Readers are 16-page nonfiction books for students with informative, engaging full-color photos and graphics that present key science concepts and vocabulary.

Using science material they promote reading in the specific content area. Readers present key science content and vocabulary found on most state tests and support and extend the experiences and content of hands-on activities. They also help students develop informational literacy skills while promoting scientific inquiry.

Each reader has three main sections:
