Pair of Industrial Suction Cups (each with 3-1/4 inch diameter), also known as Magdeburg Hemisphere, comes with handles and release stubs, with a 100 newton (22 pound) separation force. This small yet might pair of Magdeburg Hemispheres demonstrates the force of air pressure without a vacuum pump. In this modern variant of a famous 17th-century experiment, students can place the edges of 2 hemisphere cups together and squeeze them, which forces out the air between them. In a tug of war, students can try to pull the cups apart (which they will find is a surprisingly difficult task). Each of these approximately 3-inch (7-1/2 centimeter) diameter rubber hemisphere parts has a 2-finger tug handle and 2 release posts. Finger hole diameter is 1 inch. Each half of hemisphere is 2 inches tall. When suctioned together, a minimum of 100 newtons (22 pounds) is required to separate these 2 "hemisphere" parts. Sold as a pair.
