It offers resistance to acids and alkalis except for hydrofluoric acid. Glaze softening does not take place till 1000 degree C. The average coefficient of expansion from 20 - 200 degree C is 3.56 x 10<sup>-5</sup> with a gradual increase to 4.69 x 10<sup>-5</sup> at 1050 degree C to offer thermal shock resistance.</div>
