AI Foundations curriculum consists of age-appropriate, grade-banded units for elementary, middle, and high school classrooms. This curriculum uses free online resources and hands-on learning to teach basic artificial intelligence concepts without the need for robotic hardware. Throughout the curriculum, students are provided an introduction to sensors and perception, computational thinking and algorithms, learning and data, models of representation, and natural language processing in AI. The importance of learning the impact artificial intelligence has on society in both negative and positive ways is also emphasized and discussed. This curriculum provides both teachers and students with a better understanding of the Five Big Ideas of AI as well as basic computer science concepts. This foundational knowledge will give students a better understanding of coding and robotics as they move to working with physical kits and software.
