This lock functions solely on a door that opens to the right and swings toward the inside of the room when opened. Door must be unlocked from the outside to let students out and resume normal door functioning. This is a type 1 deadbolt, however, meaning if someone presses the door lever to let themself out after the deadbolt has been activated, this door does not automatically lock again once someone leaves the room.
