Lab-Aids Buzzing Conductivity Indicator is a practical alternative to light sensitive LED conductivity indicators. This indicator which works on 9 V battery renders semi-quantitative information about the materials being tested. When both probes are in contact with a solid/immersed in a solution and the material is a conductor, an audible tone increases in volume and intensity as conductivity increases. When the material tested is non-conductor there will not be any buzzing tone.
  • Metals are good electrical conductors
  • Ionic solutions are good electrical conductors
  • Most non-metals and non-ionic solutions are poor electrical conductors
  • There will not be any tone if the material is a non-conductor
