The Empathy Belly® Pregnancy Simulator is a wearable pregnancy simulation garment designed specifically for use in teen health, family and consumer sciences, and pregnancy prevention curricula. Rather than simply describing the physical realities of pregnancy, it allows students to experience them firsthand. It's made for building empathy, prompting self-reflection, and opening genuine discussion around decision-making and personal responsibility. The simulator uses strategically-placed weights and components to replicate the physical sensations of third-trimester pregnancy, adding 30 to 33 pounds of distributed weight while simulating enlarged abdomen and breast profile, bladder pressure, shortness of breath, postural shifts, a changed center of gravity, mild fetal kicking sensations, increased body temperature, fatigue, and changes in body awareness and self-image.
