Description

This hydraulic press consists of 2 interconnected cylinders (with differing diameters), a cross-sectional arc, and a metal frame. This model is used to demonstrate how fluid pressures is used within interconnected cylinders (which are both connected at the bottom of base). The smallest cylinder has a petcock installed to control flow of air, which creates the hydraulic simulation. Both cylinders are a different size to show the mechanical advantage of hydraulic pressure. Graduated Syringe barrels also allow simple Boyle's law experiments to be conducted. Two metal platforms (3-1/2 inches each) are affixed to the top of each piston to be used to be in experiments. Large cylinder is 50 milliliters (mL) with 2 mL graduations; the smaller cylinder is 10 mL with 0.2 (2/5 inch) mL graduations. Full hydraulic press model stands 8 inches tall when both cylinders are empty. Metal base measures 6 x 4-1/4 inches with rubber pads.
