School Specialty Chris Griggs Rides for Charity.
It's a Race Where Everyone Wins.

Chris Griggs is one of the designers and project managers within the marketing department at School Specialty's Norcross, Georgia location.

He is an avid cyclist who rides for fitness and training, and participates in a variety of competitive events. In September of 2005, Chris completed his third charity Georgia MS150 Bike Tour event.

"I decided three years ago to take my passion for cycling and use it as a tool for helping others," he notes. "Since the MS150 is a charity ride, each year I commit to a fundraising goal. With the support and generosity of many people, I have been able to exceed my fundraising goals each of the three years I have participated."

Three years ago, Chris and his wife, Stephanie, were given the news that her brother, Mark, was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. "That was the point I made my commitment to do everything I could for the MS community," Chris says. "The fundraising was only the start, though," he continues, "now I devote my professional abilities and experience, as well."

He worked closely, side by side with the Georgia Chapter of the National MS Society, to plan this year's event. As a participant, he raised $3,146, surpassing his goal of $3,000. As a volunteer, Chris designed and assisted in the production of the event's posters, brochures, a large variety of collateral pieces, newspaper ads, and its commemorative jersey.

Next year Chris will be joining his brother-in-law, Mark, to participate in one of California's MS150 Bike Tours. "It will be a lot fun," Chris says, "and emotional, too. Mark and I have a great relationship. To be able to actually ride in one of these events with him will bring everything I have committed to and have done, back around full-circle."
